Theatro — the spectacle

Set inside a converted theatre at the Es Saadi Resort, open since 2003, and still the club most people name when you ask about Marrakech. The draw is not just the music: acrobats, dancers and full theatrical productions run through the night on the old stage.

It genuinely does not start before 01:00. Arrive at 23:30 and you will watch the staff set up.

• Secret Room — Hivernage, 3.7 (723 reviews), 23:00 to 05:00, €€€€. Premium pricing, mid ratings.
• Pacha Marrakech — Agdal, 3.7, Friday and Saturday only, 23:00 to 06:00, €€€€. The name carries weight, but only 69 people have reviewed it. Check who is playing before committing.
• Nikki Beach — Palmeraie, 3.7. Worth flagging clearly: this is a day club, open 11:30 to 18:30. It is a pool party, not a night out.

Where to Go, by District

Hivernage is the answer for almost everyone. Babouchka, Theatro, Epicurien, So Lounge, Buddha Bar, Leone, The Lotus Club, W Club and Secret Room are all here, most of them a short walk apart. If one room is flat, you move to the next in five minutes.

Guéliz is the local alternative — Baromètre (4.8) for cocktails, Kissko (4.9) and Entrepotes (4.5) for the earlier part of the night, Monte Cristo when you want to keep going.

The Medina is not where you club. It is where you eat and watch the sun go down — Kabana and Salama Skybar both look straight at the Koutoubia. Then you take a taxi to Hivernage.

Palmeraie and the Route de l'Ourika are for specific venues rather than an area you wander — Bo-Zin (4.1, open until 04:00, garden setting) and Nikki Beach in daylight. Both need a taxi each way.

Club or Dinner Show?

Marrakech blurs this line more than most cities, and it confuses visitors.

This is where visitors get turned away, and the rule is simple: Hivernage has a real dress code and it is enforced.

• No flip-flops or sandals.
• Trainers are a gamble — some doors accept clean white ones, others do not. Wear proper shoes if you care about getting in.
• Men: long trousers and a shirt is the safe floor.

• Taxis: use a Petit Taxi with the meter on, or a ride app. Agree the price first if the meter is "broken". Getting home at 05:00 is easier than you expect — there are always taxis outside Hivernage clubs.
