Where to Go Out in Marrakech: A Guide by District (2026)

The Short Version

Four areas, four completely different evenings.

• Hivernage — the clubs. Ten of them, walkable, dress codes enforced.
• Guéliz — the bars. Where people who live here drink, no door policy.
• The Medina — the rooftops and the dinner. Beautiful, and it closes early.
• Palmeraie and the outskirts — destination venues. A taxi each way, worth it for the right night.

Pick by what you want the night to be, not by where your hotel is. Nothing is more than twenty minutes apart.

Hivernage — where the clubs are

This is the answer for most people who want a night out.

Ten of the city's clubs sit in this one district, most of them within a few minutes' walk: Theatro, Babouchka, Epicurien, So Lounge, Buddha Bar, Leone, The Lotus Club, W Club and Secret Room.

That density is the real advantage. If a room is flat at one, you are five minutes from the next — which is not true anywhere else in Marrakech.

Hivernage also handles the earlier part of the evening: Sky Lounge and MySky for sunset, Bendoo and Arkech for dinner with live music, Comptoir Darna (4.7, over 13,000 reviews) and Jad Mahal for the dinner-show format.

The catch: this is the strictest district in the city on dress and door policy, and the most expensive. It is also almost entirely a visitor and expat scene — you will not meet many Marrakchis here on a Tuesday.

Go if: you want to dance, you are happy to dress up, and you want everything within walking distance.

Guéliz — where locals actually drink

The new town, and the most rewarding district if you would rather have a good conversation than a loud room.

The bars are genuinely excellent and the ratings show it: Kissko at 4.9, Baromètre at 4.8, Entrepotes at 4.5. Baromètre is the standout — a steampunk basement behind an unmarked iron 'B', drinks served in laboratory glassware, and the place people name when you ask where they drink.

For sunset, Pointbar is the best-rated rooftop in the city with a real review base. Sky Bar at La Renaissance is the older classic.

If the night keeps going, Monte Cristo stacks a restaurant, a live-music bar, a shisha terrace and a club across four floors — the one building in Guéliz where a group that wants different things can stay together.

The catch: only one real club. If dancing is the goal, you will end up in a taxi to Hivernage anyway.

Go if: you want cocktails over bottle service, no door policy, and a more local crowd.

The Medina — the view and the table

The old city is not where you club. It is where you watch the sun go down and where you eat well.

The rooftops here are the ones with the postcard view: Kabana and Salama Skybar both look at the Koutoubia, Café des Épices sits over the spice square, La Terrasse De La Brillante is the quiet one near the Bahia Palace.

For dinner, the Medina is the strongest district in the city: Dar Yacout, Le Foundouk, Nomad, Le Jardin, La Famille, Pepe Nero. Le Trou au Mur near the Ben Youssef Madrasa is the contemporary option.

The catch: it closes early. Most Medina venues shut between 22:30 and 02:00, and several serve no alcohol. The lanes are also genuinely hard to navigate after dark — pin your restaurant before you set off, and expect to be offered directions you did not ask for.

Go if: you want the view, the architecture and the best dinner. Then take a taxi to Hivernage.

Palmeraie and the outskirts — destination venues

Twenty minutes out, and a different kind of night.

Nikki Beach in the Palmeraie is the name everyone knows — but it is a day club, open 11:30 to 18:30. Plan it as an afternoon, not an evening. Le Blokk is the other Palmeraie fixture: a dinner-show institution with live jazz, soul and disco, closed Mondays.

Out on the Route de l'Ourika, Bo-Zin runs until 04:00 in a bamboo garden — restaurant first, then lounge, then party.

The two big rooms in Agdal, on Boulevard Mohammed VI, also sit outside the walkable core: 555 Famous Club and Pacha Marrakech, which opens Friday and Saturday only.

The catch: a taxi each way, and no plan B. If the room is dead, you are twenty minutes from anywhere else.

Go if: there is a specific booking, DJ or event you want. Not as a default.

Choosing in One Line

Moving Between Them

Everything except the Palmeraie is a ten to fifteen minute Petit Taxi ride. Insist on the meter, or agree the fare before you get in. Night rates run roughly 50% above daytime — 20 to 30 MAD for a city trip, more for the Palmeraie.

Getting home at 04:00 is easier than people expect from Hivernage, where taxis wait outside the clubs. From the Palmeraie it is harder — ask the venue to call one. Our transport guide has the detail.
